    Sony has recently released the W6/W7/W8/W9 range of TV's. This new range does not have the standard VESA fixings on the rear and can cause problems when wall mounting or mounting on a cantilever TV stand. Sony have designed a system that uses the base of the TV stand that will allow flat to the wall mounting only and also has wall fixing points that are very close together, which could cause problems on certain wall types. We have produced a set of parts that will allow these screens to be mounted on VESA compatible TV Wall Brackets or cantilever TV stands. Simple, easy to follow instructions for use are included and can be viewed here

    Here is a list to clarify which of the 2013 and 2014 Sony Screens are affected by this issue and require the adaptor kit

    Sony 2013 KDLxx W series all end with an ‘A’… Sony 2014 W series all end with a ‘B’ (there were no W7xx models in 2013)

    • KDLxxW6xxx A models all need the service kit
    • KDLxxW8xxx A models do not need the service kit
    • KDLxxW6xxx B models do not need the service kit
    • KDLxxW7xxx B models all need the service kit
    • KDLxxW8xxx B models all need the service kit
    • The KDLxxW9xx range seems to have the same issue as the models above, but we do not have model specific information. If you have a W9 and are unable to mount it on a wall bracket then this kit will solve the problem.

    A: It is our understanding that the C models come with an adaptor kit in the box from Sony to make it wall mountable. If you do not have this kit then you can purchase ours to make it work
    Q: Hi, we have a Sony Bravia KDL-42 W829B. We bought a vesa style wall mount. The problem we have is not the depth difference in the mounting points but that the holes are not 300mm apart, they are 292mm apart (centre to centre).     A: Unfortunately not, you will need to get a TV bracket with a universal type mounting plate and use it with our adaptor kit to be able to wall mount your TV. A good choice of wall bracket is here -

I don't have any of the original parts other than the stand (foolishly binned the box), so will your kit enable me to then use a VESA mount?     A: This kit will allow you to mount the screen on a wall bracket, you will not require any parts from the stand. The Sony screens do not conform to standard VESA fixing patterns so you will require a bracket with a universal type fixing pattern rather than a fixed plate.
